An eyebrow rose upon his forehead. He didn’t believe it at all. She looked like she hadn’t eaten for days. Leaf never really took her eating habits into consideration. Darren could take care of that no problem… But if Fire realizes that Green is unhealthy, would she yell at Leaf for not trying to help feed her? But… if he did, would she yell at him for being too close to her? GODDAMMIT.

“Yoooou sure?” He gently poked her stomach. “I can’t eat everything alone. I’ll leave a bit for ya though, alright?” He slowly got up and strolled over to the kitchen, readying himself a plate.

“I am sure,” she voiced out, a soft giggle leaving her, “I am strong after all.” She followed the other to the kitchen, watching him get himself some lasagna. It smelled good, she couldn’t deny that. Slowly, she got herself a plate too.

It was at times at these that she could compare her wrist with someone else’s, and wonder if this difference in width was normal. Of course not. It’s true that men had thicker wrists than women, but that didn’t take away that she was slimmer than average. A sigh escaped her. It was probably for the best if she gained some pounds before growing even weaker, but honestly, her mind was only set to battling. Damn Fire.

And of course he had no clue of knowing, and had no intentions of yelling. Still, he noticed this right away, and his only purpose in life was to make a certain someone happy. That couldn’t happen if anything bad happened to Green.

Leaf frowned and rested his head on his hand as it leaned against the couch. “You sure…? Ya never eat a lot anymore at supper… Sometimes not at all.” He bit his lip, eyes wandering. “Is this some sort of diet? Or should I be worried? Cause doooon’t worry! Ya look fine as it is! Promise!” Aaa- shit. He hoped the other didn’t think he was trying to crack a joke with the diet thing. “Don’t know how you can resist that man’s Lasagna…”

“No, no, you got it all wrong” the brunette stammered, raising her hands in defense. “I just take a lot of lunch with me for when I’m at the gym or training!” Of course she was lying. It would be bothersome if anyone knew she had been neglecting herself for a while, and she really didn’t want to deal with that right now.

A smile appeared on her face again. “I’ll eat a bit, so you better eat the rest, okay?” She teasinly nudged with her elbow against the other. “Eat like a real man~”

Besides play with the brim of his hat and eye the missing spot on the wall, he did nothing. He looked up from this and smiled slightly. “Yeeeah? Scoundrel! He probably left us his leftovers!” He said this jokingly, but what a scoundrel indeed. He didn’t feel completely comfortable with being near Green alone. Even her sitting next to him made him feel tense.

“Soooo, did he say what’s for dinner? Is it his stew? Hope it is!” He looked over the couch, humming slightly.

The brunette let out a soft, yet fake laugh at the other’s behaviour. “Lasagna” she answered, carefully eyeing the other. Her voice started to become a soft string of mumbles: “I’m not really hungry though..”

Which was the truth. She got so used to not feeding herself that she barely got hungry anymore. She wondered if Leaf would yell at her for it, but she didn’t expect it. Maybe he really didn’t know about what happened before as a result of malnutrition. Green wasn’t even sure if Fire knew. She didn’t want to tell either of them about it.

Not that they had to know. No, it would be way better if they didn’t; she thought to herself.

“Noooo prob! If he comes in sneakin’ in, I’ll wrestle him down for ya!” He let out a laugh and sighed. Slowly, he made his way to her couch to lounge on it. His smile faded. Sometimes it really hurt, to smile all the time. He didn’t want to all the time, but he had to. No, he felt like he had to. If he didn’t, surely the other two in the trio wouldn’t, not that he cared much for one of them.

His eyes soon wandered to the wall, where Green kept most of her family photos. Pictures of the professor, Green and her brother as children, their former parents, pokemon, and other family members. Leaf remembered that there once was a picture of Green, Fire, and himself as children huddling around a Christmas tree. Instead there laid a white square upon a faded wall. The picture had been taken down long ago and hidden somewhere. He had no idea where it was, but whenever he asked Green, she’d claim she had no idea.

With a soft giggle, the brunette had gone upstairs. She felt a bit relieved when she was out of the other’s sight, relaxing a little. A small sigh escaped her lips before she found her brother. She talked to him and asked about dinner. Apparently he already ate. Oh.

A little bit disappointed, Green moved back downstairs. Quietly, though, she was a little curious as to how the other would act alone. She peeked in, but saw nothing. Then she just decided to walk over like usual.

“Darren said he already ate.” She flopped down next to Leaf on the couch. “So we can just eat the rest by ourselves.”

He smiled and nodded. For a split second, he thought he heard a change in her voice. He didn’t bother to pay more attention. He didn’t care much for it. Even though Green was his dear friend, he just couldn’t help but… Despise her, in a way. Really, if Green wasn’t in the picture then Fire-

No. That’s horrible thinking. Green was his friend, and even if that kept Fire from him, he couldn’t think such things. Still, those feelings popped up once in awhile… It was wrong, he knew. He yelled at himself one night, demanding he not think so terribly. It didn’t work.

He hummed slightly and shrugged. “Yeah! His curry’s pretty boss. I’m fine with anything he makes!” He kicked his shoes off at the door and looked around. “He even home?”

Green blinked as she looked around. “Don’t think so.. I’ll go check.” Carefully, she took off her own shoes before walking off, going to the kitchen to see if her sibling was there. “Darren, you here?” she softly asked, feeling a little foolish at the moment. Was it just her imagination or did this feel awkward? No.. it wasn’t really any different from usual.

The girl eyed the stove and took off a lid, happily eyeing the prepared food. Darren must be home if he made this. She decided to go upstairs to find him.

“Be right back, Leaf” she muttered..

He sighed gently and nodded. “The best! Can’t think of anyone better!” He followed her in the house and looked around, shrugging as he placed his things on the nearest table. “Not sure. I hope it’s his stew, though! Ya know, the one we had a few weeks ago?”

“Oh, his stew! I really love that.” She laughed softly at the other. For some reason she could always relax around him. He wasn’t like Fire, he didn’t feel like a threat to her own wellbeing at all, despite knowing he liked the brunette.

Leaf was Leaf, and one of the few people Green didn’t want to crush. He had always been so gentle, after all. Even if it bothered her that he helped out her grandmother, it didn’t matter. Even if he received more praise than her, it didn’t.. matter… It…

Her eyes lost their shine for a moment, having difficulty to keep up her smile. It became fake now instead. How troublesome a mask was. “I.. have to say I like his curry more though!” She bit her lip slightly.

He bit his lip, offering a smile as well. He always got tense when Green touched him in anyway. The last thing he wanted was for Fire to never speak to him again. That would be absolutely horrid. He nodded and sighed.

“Course I’m comin’. I’d never miss yer brother’s cookin’! It’s the bomb! Let me just…” He pulled his hand away to get his things. “Alright! Let’s get truckin’!”

Green smiled at the brunet, before starting her walk to her own house. “Hmn, I know. He’s a great cook.” Her eyes sparkled a little as she said that, it was one of the things in her life that truly made her happy; Darren, that is.

“You have any idea what’s for dinner?”

Okay.

burningcerise:

She flicked her hair to the side a tad, letting go and cocking her head innocently. Green had gotten thinner: her eyes had lost more shine than they had the last time they met, her chin jutted up into an angle, her cheekbones looked sharpened and painful against her cheeks.

“You’ve changed. It’s been a while.”

The emerald-eyed let out a small laugh. “Of course I have changed!” She relaxed a little. “I’ve gotten stronger after all.” she muttered, a smile still to be found on her face.

Everything she had done was to beat her. All for her. There were days she had stopped eating and barely slept to train. She had lost a lot of weight in those days too, and passed out various times during training, but she didn’t regret a bit of it.

All she wanted was to beat Fire.

“Am I becoming that obvious?” He chuckled slightly. Dear Arceus he hoped he wasn’t becoming obvious. That would be terrible.

He shrugged as he sucked gently on his bottom lip, pretending to ponder this. “Maaaaybe! The old gal ain’t gonna yell at me for not finishing cleanin’ the lab, is she?”

She smiled, gently taking the other male’s hand to pull him in closer. “It will be fine,” she whispered, “your health is more important after all.” The brunette let go again, spinning on her heel.

“You coming?”

Oh shit- He turned his head around quickly to see the other, immediately putting on his famous shit-eating smile. “Yo yo yo! Look who’s here so fast!” He lifted his hand for a wave and sat up.

“But ya know, diner’s not usually eaten at the lab. Don’t you gotta house?” He chuckled slightly as he teased.

She let out a small giggle. “I know that, silly. But I knew you would be here.” She batted her eyelashes. “We can go to my house instead though.”
